The Living End - Mod Club - August 1, 2006

Aussie psychobilly, punk rawkers, The Living End stormed into the Mod Club last night for a show that had fans slamming their enthusiasm in front of the stage.

I'm getting to like the Mod Club more and more, even though it has its roots as a dance club. You can still go to the second floor and sink into a big squishy couch if you want to. You can't see the stage of course, so you'd be treating the band as elevator music.

That's not my idea of a club designed for live music, but maybe the rest of the transformation will happen sometime soon.

Another downside of a live music club with a dance music past is that the place is still swarming with bouncers. Apparently, dancers are far more likely to be criminals than live music fans (something I've always believed). The club hasn't adjusted to that yet, and are playing it safe. I only had one incident, where I wandered out onto the floor, beer in hand, as I would just about anywhere else. Apparently, that's a no-no at all ages shows there. I was promptly escorted back to the drinking zone.

Anyway, The Living End delivered the goods, and I was happy to be there. There are just a few photos, since I didn't venture too close to the stage, but have a look and listen to "Prisoner of Society".
