Update time!!!

Hey, folks...

Just a quick update on the Community Forum and other matters.

Maybe I got a little too impatient too quickly, but the Forum didn't seem to be used much, and the spam invaders were getting difficult to control.

There hasn't been any fan/club-goer chat happening, so the main contributors (aside from spammers) have been bands and promoters pitching upcoming shows. That's great, and I'll keep that alive, but in another format for now.

The spammers these days use automated systems, so they don't even know where their porno/viagra/weight loss/etc. items end up. I've "buried" the forum, but their software won't know that. The spam will keep coming onto a page that no one will see. Without knowing it, they'll be pumping up the traffic stats to this site, which should give us a better position in the search engines.

I'm not going to complain about that! Let's get the spammers working for us for a change! They'll have no idea that their stuff is automatically going down the digital sewer.

Meanwhile, I'm going to substitute a second blog like this one called PromoZone for promos of upcoming acts. That'll still be free to all bands, promoters, etc. The difference will be that you'll have to email your info with any attachments to info@TorontoLiveClubHub.com for now. Artwork (e.g. posters in jpg format) are strongly recommended because of the visual impact, but we'll use whatever you send us if it's appropriate.

The PromoZone already exists... you just can't see it yet, until we get more content.

Maybe this isn't the best solution, but we'll give it a try for now, until something better comes along.

Meanwhile, all music fans who want to comment on any entry in either Chronicles or PromoZone can still do so. The Comments link is under every single entry. I'll be moderating the material, however, to eliminate the spam, so be patient. 24 hours max to see your stuff online here. Much, much sooner in most cases.
